I’m just not sure geek culture is ready for WOC superhero movies

daggerpen:

Like, sure, geek culture has become incredibly mainstream nowadays, but only for some limited “iconic” characters. I mean, geez, let’s look at the precedents here. Do you really think people would go for a WOC-led video game?

Especially in a franchise?

Can you imagine a WOC-led comic book becoming popular?

image

Breaking new ground or setting records?

And honestly, it’s so hard for female-led movies to do well

image

Can you imagine a hit geek culture movie with a woman of color in a leading role?

image

Or a TV show?

I donno, guys. It might be best to just stick to the most popular superheroes. We’re just not ready for a superhero movie with anything but iconic characters.
